AQUEDUCT-“WILD KNIGHTS” (8/7)
2.
ASHFORD & SIMPSON-“STAY FREE”
(EXPANDED EDITION) (8/7) (Digitally remastered
and expanded edition. Ashford & Simpson, simply put, are one of the best
songwriting duos the world has ever seen. Former successful Motown writers,
this powerhouse duo penned a string of hits for greats like Aretha Franklin,
Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye and Diana Ross. It is little wonder that they were
inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame in 2002. Following the release of
their first two Certified Gold albums, Send It and Is It Still Good To Ya,
Ashford & Simpson would repeat their success with the release of their
seventh album on Warner Records, Stay Free that would go gold in December of
1979. Singles Nobody Knows and Found A Cure would both have success in the US
R&B chart with Nobody Knows reaching #19 while Found A Cure would scream
all the way to #2 at the same time as gaining a top 40 spot on the US Pop
chart. Nobody Knows, Found A Cure and Stay Free would all sit proud atop the US
Disco Chart proving that Ashford & Simpson were truly working with an
original and winning formula.)

PEARLS-“BODY COMPLEX” (8/7) (For Jakub Alexander,
the languages of music and visual art are permanently intertwined. And he's
always been this way - from his birthplace in communist Poland, to growing up
outside of Detroit, to his current home in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. "When
music like Gas, early Dial Records, and Mille Plateaux releases in the 2000s
popped up in my headphones," Alexander begins, "it was completely
visual for me. Something clicked from collecting pages out of old Architectural
Digest magazines and being completely overwhelmed with inspiration for my own
visions of interior architecture." The concept carries on still, now as an
integral part of Body Complex, his second album as Heathered Pearls, which also
features contributions from fellow Ghostly artists The Sight Below, Shigeto,
and Outerbridge (mem. Beacon). Body Complex represents a new form of
Alexander's visually inspired sound creation, but just as it points to changes
in direction for the ambient-inclined producer, it also revisits the past
experiences that make his music possible.)

TYLER-“HOLY SMOKES” (8/7) (HOLY SMOKES is a
rockin', groove-laden follow up to the rock opus PARDON ME, which put Tyler and
his band The Northern Lights on the map when released in 2010. The new album
reveals a more pensive and sophisticated Tyler who's learned his lessons while
navigating the rollercoaster of life on the road, major festivals, major
labels, drugs, booze, great love, great loss and the heartbreak of mistakes you
can't change and time lost that you can't take back. The album was co-produced
by Tyler and Thom Monahan (Chris Robinson, Devendra Banhart, Vetiver) in both
Tyler's native Dallas, Texas and his adopted hometown of Los Angeles,
California.)
25. ULTIMATE

VU-hum to Feelies jangle into a more distinctive voice.)
