15. SEVERED HEADS-“SINCE THE ACCIDENT” (Limited 180gm colored vinyl LP pressing of the Australian Electronic/Industrial band's 1983 album. The band was composed of many different members though it's existence but Tom Ellard has always been the constant since 1979 when he joined the band. The group's early recordings were characterized by manipulated tape loop experiments, cleverly modulated noise elements and repetition. This period is very well suited to the early industrial period. Over time, the sounds morphed into more melodic leanings with pop elements and more prominent synth leads and backbone. SINCE THE ACCIDENT exemplifies the transition point between experimental structure and loops into the catchy pop hooks that would later define such releases as ROTUND FOR SUCESS. Difficult to classify, it is a masterpiece of electronic music. The opening track 'Relic Of The Empire' is a slow sequenced magnificent piece with time-stretched samples overlaid with multiple tracks to create a symphony quite unlike anything heard before.) , “CITY SLAB HORROR” (Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing of this 1985 album from the Australian Electronic outfit. Severed Heads are one of the most diverse and expert sound palette engineers and are also repeatedly overlooked and far underrated. Hailing from Sydney, Australia, they formed in 1979. The band was composed of many different members though it's existence but Tom Ellard has always been the constant since 1979 when he joined the band. CITY SLAB HORROR continues to carry the torch illustrating the evolving transition between experimental structure and loops into the catchy pop hooks that would later define such releases as ROTOUND FOR SUCCESS. This LP seems to move slightly into darker territory in general with its synth textures and slower tempo tracks but overall has a nice continuation feel from previous album SINCE THE ACCIDENT yet with obvious technological evolutions) (6/17) (OMG! 21. WHITE LUNG-“DEEP FANTASY” (6/17) (Deep Fantasy is the third album from the hard hitting rock n'' roll outfit, White Lung. After a year plus of near constant touring (w/ Iceage, Parquet Courts, Fucked Up) behind their sophomore album Sorry they slimmed down to a trio to record: vocalist Mish Way, drummer Anne-Marie Vassiliou and guitarist Kenneth William. The album was made primarily in their hometown of Vancouver, B.C. with producer Jesse Gander. They''re as confrontational as before, but they''ve opened their sound up just enough to draw listeners in before kicking them in the face. (In a good way.)
