8.    CAMERA OBSCURA-“4AD SESSION” [EP] (5/27)
9.    CLEAR PLASTIC MASKS-“BEING THERE” (5/27) (This is the first full length release from Clear Plastic Masks at Serpents & Snakes Records. Recorded by Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes, Natural Child) at Bomb Shelter Studios in Nashville, TN. Clear Plastic Masks have channeled their blue-collar roots into the band's work ethic, constantly writing, recording, touring, and earning new fans in each city they visit, winning them over through soul-shaking, sweat-soaked live shows and pure charm. Though their sound isn't easily defined, the allure is the sincerity of a working class band that is honest, genuine, and transparent. Give their record a few spins and what initially appears on the surface quickly gives way to a deep well of both musical influence and songwriting straight from-the-gut. This is the sound of Clear Plastic Masks.)
10. CLOSE LOBSTERS-“KUNSTWERK IN SPACETIME” [EP] (5/27) (New Close Lobsters! Cult-beloved jangle-pop act returns for their first pair of tunes since 1989.)
11. DAUGHTER-“LIVE @ AIR” (5/27)
12. ARNE DEFORCE & MIKA VAINIO-“HEPHAESTUS” (5/27) (Arne Deforce is renowned for his passionate and unparalleled performances of contemporary and experimental music. As a soloist, his repertoire consists mainly of solo and chamber music with a special interest in works deemed "unplayable" but "performable" from composers such as Iannis Xenakis, Richard Barrett, John Cage and Brian Ferneyhough. Mika Vainio was one-half of the minimal electronic duo Pan Sonic. His solo works, under his own name and under aliases like Ø, are known for their analog warmth and electronic harshness, ranging from abstract drone works or minimal avant techno. In Greek and Roman mythology, Hephaestus was the god of fire; celestial blacksmith; craftsmen, artisans, sculptors, metals, metallurgy, fire and volcanoes; son of Zeus and Hera; husband of Aphrodite. The river Phlegethon was one of the five rivers in the infernal regions of the underworld, where Hephaestus operated. Plato describes it as "a stream of fire, which coils round the earth and flows into the depths of Tartarus. It is said that the goddess Styx was in love with Phlegethon, but she was consumed by his flames and sent to Hades. On this Editions Mego release, Hephaestus couples the rich acoustics of Deforce's cello techniques with the raw expressiveness of Vanio's electronics. The music reflects these ancient symbols whereby each track possesses physical, emotional and psychological states. The journey begins with "Phlegethon (Stream of Fire)" -- a world of sound building in intensity and ferocity as a means of navigating the listener into this other world. Both "Cocytus (River of Lamentation)" and "Acheron (River of Woe)" explore more introspective (ambient) terrain, harnessing the players' ability to conjure discrete congruous textures. From here we are hurtled into the unbridled fury of "Styx (River of Rage)" where the consummation of the individual and eternal agony resides amongst the synergetic logic adopted by the artists and their chosen tools. "Lethe (River of Forgetfulness) Or Oblivion" incorporates small repeating phrases and minimalist motifs which provide a sense of disorientation and dislocation for the traveler/listener while a world of respite is laid bare in the comforting yet brooding closing piece "Elysium (Fields of Relief)." Hephaestus is a fascinating journey through the netherworld of human extremity, presented as a combination of pure acoustic and electronic sources and realized in both physical and psychological manifestations. Arne Deforce (cello); Mika Vainio (processing, electronics).
13. BEN FROST-“AURORA” (5/27)
14. JOHN FULLBRIGHT-“SONGS” (5/27)
15. THE GUN CLUB-“MOONLIGHT MOTEL” (LIVE ALBUM RECORDED IN THE NETHERLANDS & ENGLAND IN 1984. BOOTLEG FROM 1985) (5/27)
16. HAUNTED HEARTS-“INITIATION” (5/27) (Many years dreamt, one cold winter realized, Haunted Hearts is Dee Dee Penny (Dum Dum Girls) and Brandon Welchez (Crocodiles). It is not the melding of two bands; it is a true collaboration. The duo s first full-length album, entitled Initiation, was written in the winter of 2012, holed up in their apartment, surrounded by a lot of books, Motown and krautrock. It was recorded by Jon Greene at Electric Orange Studios in San Diego, mixed by Jorge Elbrecht (Ariel Pink / Violens) at Static Recording in Brooklyn, and mastered by Joe La Porta at Sterling Sound in New York City.)
17. PAUL HEATON & JACQUI ABBOTT-“WHAT HAVE WE BECOME” (5/27)

19. HUNDRED WATERS-“THE MOON RANG LIKE A BELL” (5/27)
20. AMY LAVERE-“RUNAWAY’S DIARY” (5/27)

26. PRINTER CLIPS-“PRINTER CLIPS” (5/23)  From BELL X1, Paul's Printer Clips album is out now, featuring duets with Lisa Hannigan, Joan as Policewoman, Cathy Davey, Martha Wainwright, Gemma Hayes, Julia Stone, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Amy Millan and Danielle Harrison.
27. R.E.M.-“COMPLETE RARITIES – I.R.S. 1982-1987” (BOX SET) (5/27)
28. ROYKSOPP & ROBYN-“DO IT AGAIN” [EP] (2014)
29. 7 SECONDS-“LEAVE A LIGHT ON” (5/27)
30. SLEAFORD MODS-“DIVIDE AND EXIT” (5/27)
31. SPACE RAFT-“SPACE RAFT” (5/27) (On DUSTY MEDICAL – DMR 37 – LP)  ***Whatever image that the name SPACE RAFT might conjure up for you, just forget it. They are not specifically a psych band, or a retro-glam outfit, or a blatant '70s throwback. They are, instead, a classically brilliant pop-rock combo which incorporates elements of all the above while working by their own rules, beholden to no genre. /Space Raft/, their debut album, is proof positive of this. Formed in 2012 by ex-MYSTERY GIRLS guitarist JORDAN DAVIS, former TEMPER TEMPER keyboardist TJAY CHRISTENSON, FATHER PHOENIX drummer TYLER CHICOREL who currently handles bass duties for the equally awesome CALL ME LIGHTNING) and GOODNiGHT LOViNG bassist COLIN SWINNEY, the band currently includes bassist SRINI RADHAKRISHNA (CIRCLES, FOOTBALL, FRANCE HAS THE BOMB), following Swinney's departure to California. The camaraderie amongst Space Raft's members is obvious upon listening to their music; there is a definite interplay between all of them that contributes to a fully-formed vision. Healthy helpings of melody, rhythmic diversity, and intriguing instrumentation make their self-titled debut LP a constantly shifting, magical entity. There's an almost science-fiction element to many of their songs, such as "Jupiter Calling" and "Anything is Possible," which is completely in line with the effects-laden guitar lines and washes of keyboard. However, Space Raft can abruptly shift gears into songs such as "We Are Not Alone" or "Rescue Mission," which are pop at its finest. Diversity is the key to Space Raft, a quality which, unfortunately, is sadly lacking in many modern bands.)
32. AURELIO VALLE-“ACME POWER TRANSMISSION” (5/30) (FORMER FRONTMAN FOR CALLA)
33. HARON VAN ETTEN-“ARE WE THERE?” (5/27)
34. BEN VIDA-“SLIPPING CONTROL” (5/27)
35. WATERY LOVE-“DECORATIVE FEEDING” (5/27)
36. WATTER-“THIS WORLD” (5/27) (Watter is a trio made up of close friends and collaborators whose collective pedigree reads like a desert island list of must-haves in experimental rock musicians. Multi-instrumentalists Zak Riles (Grails) and Tyler Trotter are anchored by legendary drummer Britt Walford (Slint,Evergreen) on six genre-defying pieces of monolithic mood music. For Riles and Trotter, it's a chance to dig deeper into the sandbox in which Grails have sculpted many mercurial masterpieces in recent years.)  (This is the debut album by the new Louisville band formed by members of SLINT & GRAILS. It also features contributions from Rachel Grimes (Rachel's), Todd Cook (The For Carnation, Crain), Tony Levin (King Crimson), and more. It's a truly brilliant album.)
37. WEEKNIGHT-“POST-EVERYTHING” (5/6)
38. KELLY WILLIS AND BRUCE ROBISON-“OUR YEAR” (5/27)
39. WRANGLER-“LA SPARK” (5/27) (Wrangler consists of Stephen Mallinder, best-known for his pioneering work with Cabaret Voltaire, Phil Winter of Tunng and Lone Taxidermist, plus the founder of Memetune studios and synth-obsessive Benge. His studio's synth-rammed walls have created an environment where sounds are ripped from a golden era of analog electronic music to create forward-looking, new music. Wrangler formed in the wires of Memetune -- a post-LCD, Factory Floor-ed electronic funk machine with VHS tape distortion in its eyes but also capable of sleekness and beauty in the stripped-back beats. The tracks range from the satellite bleep and synth melody of "Theme from Wrangler" to the alien carnival rhythms of "Modern World" and the ambient "Peace and Love" (originally recorded for Tate Modern's Summer 2012 program "Tweet-Me-Up"). In between there's "Lava Land" -- all masked, half-gargoyle vocals and primitive drum machines; the gliding, noir and neon of the title-track "LA Spark" and the urgent, pulsing floor-filler of "Harder." There are ghosts and echoes of Mallinder's previous work in Cabaret Voltaire in these songs, especially in the vocals and lyrics, which run like his own internal movie.)

40. NEIL YOUNG-“A LETTER HOME” (5/27)

11. TANYA DONELLY-“SWAN SONG SERIES VOL. 5” (5/20)
12. DRAGGING AN OX THROUGH WATER-“PANIC SENTRY” (5/20) (Songwriter, artist, radical thinker and noisemaker Brian Mumford has been recording as Dragging an Ox Through Water for almost 10 years. His recordings and performances have always been alternatingly heart-wrenchingly beautiful and mind-bendingly challenging - his gentle voice and soft, finger-style guitar locked in dialogue with squeals of noise and distortion from an impressive army of hand-built electronics. Panic Sentry is simultaneously his most stripped down and most ambitious record to date, peeling away many of his trademark layers of white noise, analog distortion, and chaos. What emerges are nine fragile and masterfully crafted songs - each one a ship-in-a-bottle, perpetually in danger, but never foundering in an ocean of noise. Mumford is joined on this album by long-time collaborators Tara Jane O'Neil and Mary Sutton.)
13. THE DUHKS-“BEYOND THE BLUE” (5/20)
14. DZ DEATHRAYS-“BLACK RAT” (5/20)
15. EMBRACE-“EMBRACE 5” (5/13)

18. JOLIE HOLLAND-“WINE DARK SEA” (5/20)
19. CARL HULTRGREN-“TOMORROW” (5/20) (It finally happened! In year 21 of the two of us making and releasing music, the year our own record label becasme old enough to drink, CARL (WINDY & CARL) is releasing his first ever solo album. Tomorrow is a culmination of songs he recorded after moving into a new home in early 2011. The change in atmosphere brought about a relaxed and playful side to Carl's compositions and cued an even more relaxed side of him. The music on Tomorrow is a showcase of Carl's ability to capture both the dawning of the morning sun and a beautiful ride on country roads. Uplifting and full of hope, this record is full of a new found confidence. Have no fear--his gorgeous and immediately recognizable tone is still present and on full display! But he adds some new dimensions to recording in pieces like "Hidden" which are looping electronics and quasi industrial percussion. This release, Blue Flea 21, is available on limited CD--housed in a lovely hand letter press sleeve by Interrobang Press--or on double LP--with one record being orange and one being black. Two thick slabs of vinyl in a heavy gatefold sleeve! Either format comes with a download for an additional 45 minutes of music, so all together you get 2 hours of Carl's new recordings! CD edition of 350, LP edition of 500. ("A change of scenery can change a person. It reshapes their mind, shifts emotions, and brings forth new modes of creation. A new house did just that for Carl Hultgren. Tomorrow was started in 2011, shortly after moving to a new neighborhood and into an enchanting 1930s Art Deco inspired Tudor. Originally known as The Elmdale, its casement windows and recessed plaster cove ceilings combined to reshape Carl's thoughts and views. Surrounded by beautiful old trees and shimmering sunlight, Carl started working. Tomorrow's tracks are a manifestations of tranquility and joy, of an assuredness in forward motion. It is instantly apparent to any long time listener of Windy and Carl that these new tracks show a marked change from the 20 years of dense guitar drones and walls of sound the duo have released. Carl's first solo album is instead a lighter, more stripped down affair -- the tracks showcasing his new found humility and confidence. There are touchstones - in tracks like 'No Other' and 'As Sure As' the cascading guitars hint at LC era Durutti Column, in 'Spirits' you can hear a nod to early 4AD Dif Juz in all its reverb and atmosphere, while 'In This Land' has a Gene Clark psychedelic country twang. Tomorrow is not all about a love for guitars - 'Hidden' brings together glimpses of Wolfgang Voigt's Gas project with the industrial percussion of Einsturzende Neubauten's Perpetuum Mobile. A change of scenery has meant the freedom to explore new lands and be completely comfortable in them. Keyboards and found sounds sit very contentedly next to airy guitar compositions." Comes in a hand letterpressed sleeve. Includes a download code for six bonus tracks.)
20. DAVID K-“OUT OF RANGE” (5/13)
21. TYSON MEADE-“TOMORROW IN PROGRESS” (5/20) (Oklahoma native Tyson Meade led alternative groups Defenestration and Chainsaw Kittens during the 80s and 90s, leaving a musical legacy and personal mayhem in his wake until ''Iggy told me to be good. To clean up, I moved to China and ran a boarding school and told myself I was done with music. During my long sabbatical, I was christened the Godfather of Alternative Rock by Converse (I had been wondering what I would put on my tombstone). But then, I met a student violinist, with an engulfing passion for music and pureness of spirit. He brought a new perspective to me. This is when I started writing with him, him filling in the gaps and making my songs pocket symphonies. I then enlisted more students from middle schools and high schools in China and the USA. I called my friends - like Jimmy Chamberlin (ex- Smashing Pumpkins), Jesse Tabish (Other Lives) and Derek Brown (Flaming Lips). They jumped at the chance to play. Kerry Brown brought his award winning wizardry mixing talents on board, as did Grammy winner Trent Bell. And thus we have, Tomorrow in Progress.'' - Tyson Meade. Also available on 180 gram colored vinyl with download card.

19. COLLIN HERRING-“SOME KNIVES” (5/13)
20. HISS TRACTS-“SHORTWAVE NIGHTS” (5/13) (Shortwave Nights is the debut album by Hiss Tracts, a new duo featuring David Bryant (Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Set Fire To Flames) and Kevin Doria (Growing, Total Life). The sonic preoccupations of Bryant and Doria are well-documented across many highly acclaimed recordings over the past fifteen years, from the organic, group-based, semi-improvised collage albums of Set Fire To Flames to the glimmering, immersive minimalism of Growing and the more maximalist full-spectrum noise works of Total Life.)
21. THE HOWLIN’ BROTHERS-“TROUBLE” (5/13)
22. HUNTERCHILD-“HUNTERCHILD” (5/13)
23. KING DUDE-“FEAR” (5/13)
24. KREIDLER-“ABC” (5/13) (2014 marks twenty years of Kreidler. The band has outgrown adolescence, but remains juvenile, reckless, impetuous. They recorded their new album ABC in Tbilisi, Georgia. And there will also be a film by Heinz Emigholz, who accompanied the last album Den with film clips. Six tracks characterized by elliptical shifts, where suddenly the bass and drums take over the helm -- or a choir appears. Kreidler worked together with Georgian singers: either hovering freely in the meditative pop piece "Ceramic," or defining a new space within a space, as in "Nino." Nino perhaps most clearly suggests that the album was recorded in Tbilisi, Europe's southeasternmost metropolis, on the former Silk Road at the intersection of East and West. "Nino" opens the album -- a piece made for setting off in a convertible with the top down, moving at the steady pace through the speed-limited traffic zones with the speakers pumping. A female voice takes over for "Alphabet" and the mood rises. It rocks as only Kreidler can rock. Then a short pause with "Destino," which displays a melancholy longing that leads to abstract no wave funk. "Modul" is similar to Nino, yet even more relentless. "Tornado" concludes ABC. A scruffy smoothness unifies the tracks, which rely less on layers or the shifting of variable patterns, and more on riffs. Yes, riffs. But not hashed-out on guitar or bass -- Alex Paulick is more the sequencer, the lead sound, or the cloud. It is the synthesizers of Andreas Reihse and Detlef Weinrich that provide the definitive propulsion. And wasn't it the case with Den that Kreidler even considered making a record without drums? What a peculiar endeavor. Once again, Thomas Klein's distinctive playing was destined to press the songs further forward, onward, ahead. As always with Kreidler, ABC is about the exploration of freedoms within a previously determined framework. It is a formulation of convergences, of possibilities within a procedural movement, based on a notion of democracy, with socialism in mind, where one understands that restraint is not merely a strategy of a conceptually inclined band, but that it serves to strengthen the validity, precision and majestic authority of expression. The cover uses photographic works by Thea Djordjadze. The Georgian artist usually works directly within a space, combining sculpture, painting and found objects into ensembles. Many of her photographic works are comparable, arranging diverse elements in a black (or white) box. Her works reflect art and cultural history, refer to Georgian folk art, or even Soviet modernity.)
25. LA SERA-“HOUR OF THE DAWN” (5/13)
26. LANTLOS-“MELTING SUN” (5/13)
27. LITTLE DRAGON-“NABUMA RUBBERBAND” (5/13)

34. PATRICK PARK-“LOVE LIKE SWORDS” (5/13)
35. THE JEFFREY LEE PIERCE SESSIONS PROJECT-“AXELS & SOCKETS” (5/13) (The Jeffrey Lee Pierce Sessions Project, which sees the late Gun Club singers' friends, former band members and fans paying tribute to his extraordinary genius, is releasing its third and penultimate outing. Axels and Sockets features many names from the first two volumes, including Nick Cave, Debbie Harry, Mark Lanegan, Lydia Lunch, Warren Ellis, Mick Harvey and Kid Congo Powers, along with new additions to the collaborative fold in the form of Iggy Pop, Mark Stewart, Thurston Moore, Jim Sclavunos, Primal Scream and Andrew Weatherall. Co-ordinated by Pierce's later musical partner Cypress Grove, the Project again strives to pay homage by avoiding the clichés of the conventional tribute record, creating fierce, iconoclastic new music out of song-sketches, demo recordings, scribbled lyrics and leftover riffs Jeffrey tragically didn't live to complete, while some put their own spin on personal favorites from his esteemed catalog. Axels and Sockets casts the Project's net wider than ever, kicking off with Iggy Pop making his debut appearance dueting with Nick Cave on "Nobody's City" before Debbie Harry invokes the early punk-pop Blondie sound with the Amber Lights (Mick Harvey and JP Shilo) on "Kisses for My President," which Jeffrey wrote about her before she knew he existed (He was president of the Blondie fan club). Cave also completes his trilogy of duets with Debbie on "Into the Fire." Returning too are Mark Lanegan, along with Bertrand Cantat, Crippled Black Phoenix, Gallon Drunk's James Johnston and Cypress Grove. Also making their debut are Mark Stewart and Thurston Moore (their take on "Shame and Pain" marking the first time Jeffrey's vocals have appeared on the set), Primal Scream, whose version of "Goodbye Johnny" is remixed into smoky hoodoo noir by Andrew Weatherall, KatieJane Garside and Andrea Schroeder. The set also introduces younger bands with Leeds' Black Moth, who are produced by Bad Seeds drummer and project co-coordinator Jim Sclavunos and Cornwall's Honey, helmed by Jeffrey's old partner-in-crime Kris Needs. With only Volume 4's grand finale to come, the Jeffrey Lee Pierce Sessions Project continues to loom as a towering statement in preserving and immortalizing his fearsome legacy.)
36. PROSTITUTES-“PETIT COCHON” (5/13)
37. GRUFF RHYS-“AMERICAN INTERIOR” (5/13)
38. SEAN NICOLAS SAVAGE-“BERMUDA WATERFALL” (5/13)
39. THE SOUND-“JEOPARDY”, “FROM THE LION’S MOUTH”, “ALL FALL DOWN”…PLUS EPs, SINGLES, BBC TRACKS, BOOKLET AND REMASTERING 4-CD BOX SET
40. STRATEGY-“BOXOLOGY” (5/13)
41. SWANS-“TO BE KIND” (2-CD) (5/13)
42. SYD ARTHUR-“SOUND MIRROR” (5/13)
43. SYLVAN ESSO-“SYLVAN ESSO” (5/14) (Sylvan Esso is a collaboration between vocalist Amelia Meath and electronic musician Nick Sanborn. Meath's powerful voice is front and center, unjoined by fellow harmonizers as it is in her folk group, Mountain Man. Sanborn, who plays bass in the genre-destroying Megafaun, creates intricate, pulsing grooves for Meath's voice to inhabit. Their self-titled debut a collection of vivid addictions concerning suffering and love, darkness and deliverance arrives as a necessary pop balm, an album stuffed with songs that don't suffer the longstanding complications of that term.)
44. PRINS THOMAS-“PRINS THOMAS 3” (5/13)
45. TOBACCO-“ULTIMA II MASSAGE” (5/13)
46. WALLS & ORAM-“SOUND HOUSES” (5/13)
47. WOVENHAND-“REFRACTORY OBDURATE” (5/13)
48. WUSSY-“ATTICA!” (5/13) (Attica! is the 5th album from Cincinnati's Wussy, and the first to be released jointly in the US and UK. These 11 new tracks were recorded with old Afghan Whigs pal John Curley at Cincinnati's legendary Ultrasuede Studios. John Erhardt rejoins forces with former Ass Ponys bandmate Chuck Cleaver as the band's fifth member on some Dark-Side-inspired pedal steel, adding a further psychedelic element to Wussy's ever-developing swirl of noise. Attica! is the band's loudest and quietest record to date, finding Cleaver and co-leader Lisa Walker at their lyrical best and Wussy as a whole at their weirdest and finest. About Wussy: Fronted by former Ass Pony Chuck Cleaver and the previously unaffiliated and brilliant Lisa Walker, Cincinnati's Wussy is a rock band that'll remind you on the deepest level why you love rock bands. The central conceit: Submerging pristine, literate songwriting in the rumble and roar of a full band. The secret weapon: A chemistry so rare, powerful, and under-recognized it inspired Robert Christgau--America's tersest rock critic--to publish a 2,000-word love letter to ''the best band in America.'' (David Schmader, The Stranger)

49. YOUNG WIDOWS-“EASY PAIN” (5/13)

Full Cold Moon is not a new Cold Cave album, but a compilation of these singles on to one format.
