First I catch SLEEPER AGENT who aren't too bad at all. I enjoyed what I saw of their set. Then it was off to catch FANFARLO and then GARDENS & VILLA. Fanfarlo were really great. I didn't love their new album but I sure loved their debut and they are great live! Gardens was interesting but I wasn't very impressed really. MORGAN PAGE was alright in the dance tent. I could only take so much of that and off I went to see LISSIE who was really great! So hyped up from her I head back into a tent to see OBERHOFER who were the first big stars of the day. For a young band they were just perfectly excellent and I was duly impressed. Can't wait for the album! After that was my most anticipated set of the weekend from FIRST AID KIT. I was so thankful and relieved that they didn't disappoint. They were amazing! I videotaped almost all of their set and they were beautiful and perfect. I was very moved and they have so far this year made the best album of 2012 in "THE LION'S ROAR". Soon after was WILD BEASTS who also were amazing!! they also had the second hottest guitarist of the weekend! Their set was excellent and the band was very impressive and the vocals were exceptional! Great band!!! After that I was so hyped and ready for REAL ESTATE. A big letdown ensued because they were really quite droll and boring. I'd hoped for a great set and I was unimpressed and felt they blew it especially because the tent was super packed. Next I saw THE GROWLERS (very good) and FITZ AND THE TANTRUMS (crowd pleasers). So finally it was time for WILD FLAG and the girls were great! I really enjoyed their set and highly recommend their debut! After that I was disgusted by THE HIVES. About 9 years or so ago I saw the Hives and the Yeah Yeah Yeah's and I was so impressed and thought they were both the future of music. 9 years later, and after a 5 year hiatus, the Hives come out and Pete is beyond obnoxious and ego driven. He has to go on and on between each song. Is that rock n roll? No it's not. It's stupid and pathetic and he did it on and on and on. I can't believe I'm saying this but it was worse than seeing Coldplay live once when that idiot wouldn't shut up either. Sure, the Hives can play a tight song but they aren't reinventing anything and don't live up to their own hype. It was angering really. Another disappointment was next with GOTYE. All hype, all boring!!!!! Was he sure he was there? Too stupid. Then JUSTICE are 25 minutes late which cut their not so great set to 30 minutes. Thankfully next was BEIRUT who delivered a fabulous set to a very welcoming crowd that surprised me. I saw some of Calvin Harris which wasn't too bad but then the next day I heard that horrible girl showed up to "sing" and I was so thankful I wasn't subjected to THAT! I was off at the main stage enjoying the AT THE DRIVE-IN reunion! It was excellent!! The band was super great and I was happy to see them. After them for my great ending of the weekend was FLORENCE + THE MACHINE. They were great but their sound wasn't as powerful as everyone else's which I found strange. I was happy to see her live though she does have an amazing voice and great prescence. This was my 2012 Coachella experience.
